SECURITY AND WELFARE OF PEOPLE ARE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF MY GOVT., SAYS GOV. OYETOLA, AS HE BEGINS COMMISSIONING OF ELEVEN FIRE STATIONS IN THE STATE.

In compliance with Constitutional provisions, *Governor Gboyega Oyetola* of the State of Osun has stated that provision of security and welfare of the people of the state, as contained in his electioneering campaigns was the main thematic focus of his government.
The Governor said this Thursday in his address while commissioning one of eleven newly constructed Fire Service Stations in Ejigbo.
According to him, fire service is germane to having a secured and safe society.
He said: “It’s in recognition of this that our administration decided to reconstruct the Ejigbo Fire Station, which was in a deplorable condition.
“Fire service is a crucial player in security and safety of people and their property as guaranteed in Section 14, Sub Section 2 (b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which says the security and welfare of people shall be the primary purpose of government”.
Mr. Governor said before this time, the fire stations in the state were wallowing in administrative malady with inadequate and obsolete equipment.
Speaking on the reconstruction and innovative renovation of the fire stations, he said all necessary fire service equipments have been provided.
“We have equally provided quick response telecomminication service. Just dial 293 on your phone, you will be connected to the fire service deck for quick response should there be an outbreak of fire incident”, he said.
He however, admonished people of the community against damage and vandalization of government property.
Speaking at the event, the former Speaker of the State Assembly, Dr. Najeem Salam applauded the efforts of the Governor on safety of lives and property of the people through the provision of fire service domiciled at Ejigbo.
Dr. Salam appealed to Mr. Governor on consideration and approval of urgent rehabilitation of Iwo-Ejigbo road, which according to him was the main request of the community given its bad conditions.
Also speaking, an Elder Statesman in the community, Alagba E.O Bode commended Governor Oyetola for immediate commencement of road construction within Iwo as soon as he assumed office.
In a similar vein, he urged the Governor to help consider rehabilitation of Iwo-Ejigbo road, which according to the Elder State man, is almost immotorable.
The royal father in-charge of Ejigbo Kingdom, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyosin, who was also at the commissioning, thanked Mr. Governor for his interest in his town.
He however, corroborated the import of the messages of the earlier speakers on the hazards the bad road leading in and out of the community has been constituting.
Speaking earlier, the Supervisor for Ministry of Home Affairs, who is currently overseeing the Reconstruction of the eleven Osun Fire Service Stations, Dr. Obawale Adebisi, said before the intervention of Mr. Governor, the stations were already moribund, adding that some of them were an abode of reptiles.
