Afolabi Resigns As Caretaker Chairman of Ede South, Pledges Continuous Support To Gov Adeleke

Honorable Lukman Afolabi Abere Soose has today resigned as the caretaker Chairman of Ede South Local Government Area of Osun State.

Afolabi was appointed on August 16, 2023, by Governor Ademola Adeleke along with other 29 chairmen as caretaker after a federal high court in Osogbo voided the Yes or No election that produced purported elected chairmen of All Progressive Congress, APC.

Afolabi in an interview with our reporter said he took the decision in order to respect the rule of law after the recent verdict of the Supreme Court on local government financial autonomy.

“Today, I stopped going to office because I have voluntarily resigned as Caretaker Chairman of Ede South Local Government to respect the rule of law.”

Highlighting some of his achievements in the last eleven months in office, Afolabi said he renovated Ede South Local Government main council to a befitting standard.

He added that he renovated maternity centers, and schools and also dug boreholes for residents of Ede South to have access to potable water.

“I also empowered less privileged to lessen their suffering during this period that things are very hard.

“I strengthened the engagement of local security to protect the live and property of residents of this council.

“Recently, I flagged off the construction of a 1.5-kilometer road in the council to enable easy movement of vehicles as part of my commitment to keying into the infrastructural agenda of Mr. Governor.

“I ensured during my time in office that I was accessible, this gave me the opportunity to attend to matters that are of serious concern to residents of this council.”

Afolabi thanked Governor Adeleke for entrusting him with the caretaker chairman job, he pledged to continue to support his administration to achieve all his campaign promises to the good people of Osun.

He also lauded all the council staff who worked with him during his time in office and also appreciated residents of Ede South for their support and prayer.
