Appeal court reinstates sacked councilors,Local government chairmen in Imo.
The presiding judge,Justice Uwani Attaji read out the unanimous decision by the panel of judges who had earlier strucked out a cross appeal by the government.
Before the ruling the issues whether the governor had the tight to sacked the a democratically elected council chairmen and whether the governor had the right to institute the caretaker committee to administer the council in place of democratically elected officials were put to determination.
The state government among other things argued that there was a substituting court case against the conduct of the local government election before the poll,which called to question the credibility of the said exercise.
The court however held that such case has been overtaken by the conduct of that election.
The presiding judge therefore ordered for immediate reinstatement of the council chairmen as duly elected and refrained the governor and his proxies from interfere in their activities.
