Five days after the burial of K1’s mother, Alhaja Halimot Shadia Anifowose in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state without King Saheed Osupa paying a condolence visit, pointed to an allegedly fractured relationship between him and K1. The suspicion was connected to Osupa’s November 2024 declaration widely regarded as a salvo to K1 allegedly accused of pursuing an agenda to appropriate the success of Fuji music at the expense of the late Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister.

For about three weeks after Osupa’s song that enjoyed wide circulation, especially on social media, peace among fuji musicians was in suspense until K1 broke his silence and called for a truce. Despite K1’s reaction, described in some quarters as a retreat from an impending danger to his influence in particular, there was still no love lost among Fuji musicians, except a few ones who decided to overlook the development and move on.

Regardless of that situation, a good number of them trooped out to K1’s residence for condolences purposes. They included: Alhaji Alabi Pasuma, King Alao Malaika, Alhaji Taye Currency, Sir Sina Akanni, Alhaji Rasheed Ayinde, Alhaji Taju System, Alhaji Wasiu Karachi, Komi Jackson, Dr Adewale Ayuba in that order.

While questions were being asked about the absence of Osupa in Ijebu, on Day 6, which was a Thursday, he, however, made it to K1’s residence where he was warmly received by K1 in a spectacle that looked like the duo predetermined their white outfits. In the presence of Admiral Dele Abiodun, a juju music big player, President, Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN), Alhaji SK Sensation, Osupa bowed his head to K1 who, in turn, held his hand, and the duo took a walk together.

In his condolence message, Osupa wrote:”
Baba, I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your beloved mother, Alhaja Halimot Anifowose. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your entire family during this difficult time.
May Allah grant her soul eternal peace and admit her into Al-Jannah Firdaus. May your cherished memories of her bring you solace and comfort. On behalf of myself, my family, and Olufimo fans worldwide, I extend my sincerest condolences. May Allah be with you and your family during this challenging time. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”

Before filing this report, though Asiwaju Akande Obesere was said to have sent a condolence message to K1, he had not visited him. It is the same story with General Ayinla Kollington, but it was learnt that he had put a call across to K1, an effort which, according to him, yielded no fruit.
On a programme–Atupale Orin–anchored by one Mr Taiwo Omotunde, Kollington remembered K1’s role at his mother’s burial in 2007 and his own presence at K1’s chieftaincy ceremony in 2023 but expressed his dismay at his refusal to inform him of his mother’s demise.

Speaking in Yoruba language, Kollington said when he didn’t hear from K1, he called him. “But, he didn’t pick up my call. What have I done wrong when we didn’t snatch each other’s wives? I don’t know the meaning of this behaviour, “he lamented.

A follower of Fuji music through his retail sale of musical works, Mr Adabanija Oladepo, saw Osupa’s visit as a move to restore peace among Fuji musicians. From K1’s residence, Osupa travelled down to Ibadan and made it to the rave-making Agidigbo FM on what is called a solidarity visit to the station founder, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat over his recent ordeal leading him to spend about two weeks at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan.
