The Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, has commiserated with the Ejigbo Local Government Council Area chapter of the party over the death of the chairman of the council, Mr Gbenga Ayegbayo, describing it as shocking and tragic.
The state party chairman in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo today stated that it was unfortunate that the deceased had to join the great majority when his contributions were mostly needed for the development of his community.
Famodun disclosed that he was in a state of total disbelief when the news of the death of Ayegbayo was broken to him, adding that nevertheless, he found solace in the fact that God is the ultimate determinant of the number of the days of all human beings on earth.
He described human beings as mere sojourners on earth who are called to the eternal abode by the Almighty God after they might have successfully finished their race in this world.
Famodun hinted that though the death of Ayegbayo was indeed very painful but his dependants, relations, wellwishers and co-party members should take solace in the fact that the deceased successfully ran his own race in life based on the good attributes he exhibited when he was alive.
The state party chairman enjoined the APC members and leaders in Ejigbo Local Government Council Area of Osun State to take the loss of their council chairman philosophically, believing in the scriptural understanding that “it’s God who giveth that also taketh”.
Famodun who described the deceased as a complete loyal party man also disclosed that it is on record that he belonged to the school of thought in the party who would never toy with its supremacy in all ramifications.
He hinted that the vacuum left behind in the local government chapter of the party would be difficult to fill because of his total commitment to all the issues having to do with the party.
In Famodun’s words: “It is shocking to learn about the death of a prominent member of our party, Mr Gbenga Ayegbayo, who was until his death, the chairman of Ejigbo Local Government Council Area of Osun State.
“On behalf of my family and the entire state executive members of our party, I share in your grief and pray fervently to God to forgive his sins.
“May God Almighty grant his family, party members and leaders, relations and well-wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, he prayed.
Information has it that Ayegbayo died in the early hours of Monday, April 6 during his battle with an undisclosed illness for months before he finally succumbed to death at a private hospital in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
He was a member of the APC in Ejigbo Local Government Council Area of Osun State where he spent two years as chairman of the council between March 2018 and April 2020.
