The governor of the state of Osun Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola has approved the nomination of Dr Olubayo Windapo Abidogun 1 as the new Alara of Ara in Egbedore local government area of the state of Osun after he was unanimously nominated by the eighteen kingmakers in Ara few months ago.
Dispute broke out after the new Alara was first installed by the seven surviving kingmakers led by the regent of Ara Chief Muraina Alade in January this year when the opposition royal family alleged he was not duly elected and this prompted the state government to wade in and demanded the appointment of the warrant chiefs to replace the eleven dead kingmakers.
After the government intervention and the eleven warrant chiefs were nominated the state government under the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs ordered for re-election which was done at the Egbedore local government headquarters Awo and again the eighteen kingmakers unanimously selected Dr Olubayo Windapo Abidogun again and the result of the election was forwarded to the state ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs for action.
When the process is been delayed the kingmakers in Ara and Ara youths stages a peaceful protest some months ago to demand for the announcement of the outcome of the exercise which was supervised by the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs sometimes ago and charged the government to make the bold step to fulfil it own side of the process which was eventually done today by the state government of Osun.
The new monarch will receive his certificate of election from the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs tomorrow after the announcement.
There is wild jubilation in Ara by the youth when the announcement of the state government approval was made known.
